There has been an alarming increase in incidents where people are being threatened and intimidated over fake phone calls, and their account information is obtained to deprive them of money. Affected individuals are unable to take any action due to lack of awareness.
These views were expressed by cyber security expert Muhammad Asad Ul Rehman of Cybersecurity of Pakistan while raising awareness about the increasing incidents of money being stolen from bank accounts, JazzCash, EasyPaisa, and other accounts, and how to avoid them.
Explaining the modus operandi of the fraudulent callers, he said that some people are impersonating officials of the armed forces and other government agencies and calling people. In this way, they are threatening and intimidating innocent citizens in various ways and asking for details of their identity cards, bank accounts, and other important information.
Later, using this information, huge sums of money are being looted from the citizens’ bank accounts and transferred to accounts inside and outside the country. While these fake calls are being made in the name of armed forces officers, but in reality no such calls are being made by the Pakistan Army.
Therefore, personal information should not be shared with anyone, and complaints should be registered by calling the UN telephone numbers 1135 and 1125 regarding such calls so that the relevant agencies can take action against such people and protect innocent citizens from further looting and losses.
جعلی فون کالز پر لوگوں کو ڈرا دھمکا کر ان کے اکاؤنٹ کی معلومات حاصل کرکے رقم سے محروم کرنے کے واقعات میں انتہائی تشویش ناک حد تک اضافہ ہوتا جا رہا ہے۔متاثرہ افراد کم علمی کے باعث کوئی کاروائی کرنے سے قاصر ہیں۔ان خیالات کا اظہار سائبر سکیورٹی آف پاکستان کے سائبرایکسپرٹ محمداسدالرحمن نے بینک اکاؤنٹس، جاز کیش، ایزی پیسا، و دیگر اکاؤنٹس سے رقم چوری ہونے کے بڑھتے ہوئے واقعات اور ان سے بچنے کے متعلق آگاہی دیتے ہوئے کیا۔ جعلی فون کالز کرنے والے فراڈلوگوں کے طریقہ کاروائی بتاتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ بعض افراد جعلی طور پرمسلح افواج یادیگر سرکاری اداروں کے اہلکار بن کر لوگوں کو ٹیلی فون کررہے ہیں جس میں معصوم شہریوں کومختلف طریقوں سے ڈرا دھمکا کر ان کی شناختی کارڈ، بینک اکاؤنٹس و دیگر اہم معلومات کی تفصیلات پوچھ رہے ہیں۔بعد ازاں اس حاصل شدہ معلومات کے ذریعے شہریوں کے بینک اکاؤنٹس سے بھاری رقوم اندرون وبیرون ملک اکاؤنٹس میں منتقل کرکے لاکھوں روپے لوٹے جارہے ہیں۔جبکہ یہ جعلی فون کالز مسلح افواج کے افسران کے نام سے کی جارہی ہیں لیکن حقیقت میں پاک فوج کی جانب سے ایسی کوئی کالز نہیں کی جارہی ہیں۔ لہٰذا ذاتی معلومات کسی کے ساتھ شیئر نہ کی جائیں اور ایسی کالز کے متعلق یو اے این ٹیلی فون نمبر 1135 اور 1125 پر کال کرکے اپنی شکایات درج کروائیں تا کہ متعلقہ ادارے ایسے لوگو ں کے خلاف کاروائی عمل میں لا کر معصوم شہریوں کو مزید لوٹ مار و نقصانات سے بچا سکیں۔
