Hackers and digital thieves have started looting people’s sensitive and confidential information from their banks by sending fake emails pretending to be from the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR). Cyber Security Expert Muhammad Asad Ul Rehman, while speaking to the media, revealed that a group of hackers is sending these emails to several people across the country, claiming that their bank account details are required to transfer tax refunds. In these emails, people are told that according to the financial records of the FBR, they are eligible to receive a certain amount as a tax refund, which varies in each email, and they are instructed to click on a link to claim their refund.
As soon as someone clicks on the link, a new screen opens with logos of various banks, and when the recipient clicks on the logo of their respective bank, a questionnaire regarding their account pops up. He mentioned that apart from tax refunds, cybercriminals are also sending virus-infected files to people pretending to be from the FBR. When people download such files onto their devices, their data gets hacked.
He urged people to remain cautious, stating that all these emails are fake and not the procedure of the FBR. Therefore, the public should be cautious and refrain from sharing their sensitive information on any online platform. Hackers and cybercrime groups, including those claiming to be from the FBR and other institutions, send such fake emails, causing innocent individuals to fall into traps and suffer heavy financial losses.
ہیکرز اور ڈیجیٹل چوروں نے ایف بی آر کی جانب سے لوگوں کو ٹیکس ریفنڈ کی جعلی ای میلز بھیج کر ان کے بنکوں کی حساس اور خفیہ معلوما ت حاصل کر کے لوٹنا شروع کر دیا۔سائبر سکیورٹی آف پاکستان کے چیف ٹیکنالوجی آفیسر محمد اسدالرحمن نے میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے بتایا کہ ہیکرز کے ایک گروپ کی جانب سے ملک بھر میں کئی لوگوں کو یہ ای میل بھیجی جا رہی ہیں کہ ٹیکس ریفنڈ کی رقم منتقل کرنے کے لیے آپ کے اکاؤنٹ کی تفصیلات درکار ہیں۔ ان میلز میں لوگوں سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ وہ ایف بی آر کے مالیاتی ریکارڈ کے مطابق اتنی رقم جو کہ ہر ای میل میں مختلف درج ہوتی ہے بطور ٹیکس ریفنڈ وصول کرنے کے حقدار پائے گئے ہیں لہذا اپنا ریفنڈ وصول کرنے کے لیے اس لنک پر کلک کریں۔ جیسے ہی کوئی لنک پر کلک کرتا ہے تو ایک نئی سکرین اوپن ہو جاتی ہے جس میں مختلف بنکوں کے لوگوموجود ہوتے ہیں اورجب ای میل وصول کرنے والا متعلقہ بنک کے لوگو کو کلک کرتا ہے تو اس سے اس کے اکاؤنٹ کے متعلق سوالنامہ درج ہوتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ٹیکس ری فنڈ کے علاوہ جرائم پیشہ افراد ایف بی آر کے نام سے وائرس زدہ فائلز بھی لوگوں کو میل کر رہے ہیں۔ لوگ جب ایسی فائلز کو اپنی ڈیوائس میں ڈاؤنلوڈ کرتے ہیں تو ان کا ڈیٹا ہیک کر لیا جاتا ہے۔ انہوں نے لوگوں کو محتاط رہنے کی تلقین کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ تمام ای میلز جعلی ہیں یہ ایف بی آر کا طریقہ کار نہیں۔ لہذا عوام محتاط رہے اور اپنی حساس معلومات کسی بھی آن لائن پلیٹ فارم پہ شیئر کرنے سے گریز کرے۔ ہیکرز اور سائبر جرائم پیشہ گروہ ایف بی آر سمیت دیگر اداروں کی جانب سے ایسی جعلی ای میلز بھیجتے ہیں تو کوئی نہ کوئی سادہ لوح بندہ ٹریپ ہو جاتا ہے اور بھاری مالی نقصان برداشت کرتا ہے۔
